About Me

Picture
I started early retirement in 2020 but after a year of taking it easy, I was looking for more creative fulfillment. I worked on a MiniEtchers vignette kit from my stash, and heard Shellie was retiring. One thing led to another and now I’m the owner of a small business with gigantic possibilities!

I joined NAME (National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts) in 2014 and am a member of the Atlanta Miniature Society. If you're a NAME Facebook group member, you may have seen my post “First Timer at a National Convention” from the 2018 NAME Convention in Charleston.

Widowed, I have two grown daughters. I love to read and to travel - hobbies that frequently make their way into my miniatures.  I love historically accurate design (ancient to modern) and have a house full of family antiques. I’m also a huge fantasy and sci fi fan so that’s something in MiniEtchers’ future.
I have a degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and worked as an engineer for 35 years, most recently in the role of Product Owner. In high-tech product management, a Product Owner is responsible for a product from conception to tech support. I listened to the “voice of the customer” and defined the features of my products. I worked closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Documentation, Sales, and Training teams. Now, as a small business owner, I love how I can go quickly from concept to product with no corporate committees!

I did learn a few things about standards and customer service, though. I was certified in the company’s Quality program. My Quality motto is “it’s not the person; it’s the process”. To me, that means that if something doesn't turn out right, it is because of how a person was asked to do the task, not because of a flaw in the person doing it. "Mistake-proofing" can be built into every step. If a piece doesn’t turn out beautifully, I ask myself is there a way I can change the design or instructions to ensure better results every time?

My commitment: you’ll quickly get what you order, precisely cut, without any missing pieces. Instructions will be clear and you won’t need special tools or skills to have attractive results. I will listen carefully to your feedback and make changes to improve.

I look forward to serving you. Please let me know if you have ideas on how MiniEtchers can help you make exceptional tiny things!
"My goal is to delight you with the highest level of quality in products and support. I want MiniEtcher kits to empower you to be creative and to be proud of how great your miniatures look!" -Karen Crawford
